Connecting you to useful data: easy, automated, often
How the Gridium system works:
- Connects directly to your utility accounts (electric, gas, water). Gridium uses a no-touch data acquisition process that connects directly with your utility accounts through an API, allowing automated data integration. This connection happens remotely at no cost to you, primarily for electricity and gas accounts.
- Collects detailed usage data every 15 minutes. Data granularity depends on your utility provider, with most providing 15-minute interval readings. While utility data typically has a one to two-day lag, this frequent data collection reveals your building’s consumption patterns throughout each day, helping identify operational improvements.
- Imports billing information and rate structures. The system automatically collects your billing data and tracks your tariff enrollment to understand exactly what you’re paying for energy. This helps verify charges, catch billing errors, and forecast future costs based on your specific utility pricing structure.
- Typically requires no hardware installation in your building. Since we connect directly to your utility’s existing meters through their data systems, there’s no deployment needed on-site. For customers needing real-time data with almost no lag, we can also connect to customer-owned meters, though this option may require additional cost.
Helpful hint: Automated routines sometimes fail and utilities often fail to report data. Gridium is constantly working to get the best data from your data streams, but if you spot something that is very stale or broken please let us know. We’ll try to fix it!
