The Building details section on the Info tab stores your building’s profile information. Several fields here feed into Gridium’s analytics: square footage drives cost-per-square-foot calculations, and region, campus, and category groupings determine how buildings are aggregated in portfolio views.
Note: The building’s address cannot be edited directly. If you need it changed, email support@gridium.com.
Building profile fields
- Name: Your building’s display name throughout Gridium.
- Total area: Gross floor area in square feet for the entire building. This figure is used as the denominator in performance and cost ratios throughout Gridium (e.g., kWh/sf, $/sf).
- Conditioned area: The floor area in square feet covered by HVAC.
- Floors: The number of floors in the building.
- Year constructed: When the building was first built.
- Year acquired: When you added the building to your portfolio.
Grouping and tagging
These fields let you organize buildings for portfolio-level reporting and filtering.
- Region: The geographic area where the building is located. Gridium uses this to group buildings and aggregate their data for performance comparisons. You can choose from existing regions or enter a new one.
- Campus: Groups co-located buildings into a single campus, aggregating data from all of them. You can choose from existing campuses or enter a new one.
- Category: A flexible tag for similar building types, used to filter data across Gridium. You can choose from existing categories or enter a new one (e.g., Office, Retail, Laboratory, Industrial).
- Type: Another tagging option for buildings. You can choose from existing types or enter a new one (e.g., Tenant Controlled, Landlord Controlled).
Helpful Hint: Setting up regions, campuses, and categories when you first add buildings saves time later. These groupings power the filters and roll-ups you’ll use in portfolio reports.
