Reading your weekly report email

Every Monday morning, you’ll receive an email summarizing your building’s energy performance from the previous week. This is one of the primary ways you’ll interact with Gridium, taking just five minutes to review.

Understanding your email report

Your weekly Gridium Energy Analytics email shows your building’s power usage — including alerting you to important energy events — over the past seven days. Each point on the chart represents your building’s energy consumption at 15-minute intervals.

Helpful Hint: Think of it this way: one kilowatt powers about one home, so when your building hits 200 kW, that’s like powering 200 homes.

What to look for

Weekend performance

Check if your building properly shut down on Saturday and Sunday. The usage should drop to around 40 kW or your typical base load. High weekend usage often indicates equipment running unnecessarily.

Daily patterns

Your building should show consistent patterns: ramping up in the morning, steady during the day, dropping at night. When you see the load staying high overnight or spiking at unusual times, something needs investigation.

Blue vs. orange shading

  • Blue = Good: Your building used less energy than expected (good)
  • Orange = Caution: Your building used more energy than expected (investigate)

Helpful Hint: The most successful building operators review their email every Monday morning for 5 minutes. This simple habit catches problems early and saves thousands annually.

Alert messages in your email

Below the chart, you’ll see explanations for any important events:

Types of alerts you’ll see

  • Demand opportunities: “Peak expected Wednesday 2-6 PM, reduce load to save $700”
  • Equipment issues: “Failed to reach base load overnight, check scheduling”
  • Efficiency wins: “Building performing 15% better than expected this week”

Taking action

When you see alerts in your email:

  1. Note any demand warnings (these save the most money)
  2. Check for unusual patterns in the chart
  3. Click your building name to investigate details in Gridium

The email gives you everything needed for quick decisions. Your building name at the top is a direct link that takes you straight to your data without needing to log in.
