Update your Exelon (BGE, Delmarva and Pepco) account MFA phone number to maintain Gridium data access

Exelon (BGE, Delmarva and Pepco) recently enabled mandatory Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for most online accounts. To ensure Gridium can continue to automatically retrieve your utility bills and energy usage data, your Gridium account representative will work with you to add Gridium’s dedicated phone number 408-475-7913 to your utility account.


Why this matters

At this time only one login per utility account is allowed. That login can have one email address and one phone number associated with MFA. By setting Gridium’s phone number as the MFA phone, you’ll enable us to continue securely accessing your data without interruptions. This won’t prevent you from accessing your account. You will still be able to use the email MFA set to your email. The MFA phone number is also separate from notification phone numbers which will not be changed.


How to update your MFA phone

Note that your Gridium account representative will do this with you over a conference call as a confirmation code is needed during the setup. The instructions below are what will be covered. 

Step 1: Login and select account

If you haven’t yet set up MFA you may just be promoted to add a phone number when you sign in to your My Account at https://www.bge.com/, https://www.delmarva.com/ or https://www.pepco.com/. Enter 408-475-7913 when prompted.

Most accounts will have MFA already set up and after logging in will need to edit the MFA settings. After logging in, if you have multiple accounts you will need to select the account to share first by clicking view account. If you only have one account you can proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Navigate to My Account Profile Settings

Then using the top or left side navigation, navigate to the My Profile section of the site and click on My Account Profile. This should look similar to the following.

Step 3: Navigate to My Security Multi-Factor Authentication settings

On the bottom right click edit for the My Security Multi-Factor Authentication setting. This will take you to a page that looks like the following.

Step 4: Add the Gridium phone number as the Multi-Factor Authentication Phone Number. 

On this page you will click add, or if one is already entered, edit, next to the Multi-Factor Authentication Phone Number. 

On the next screen, enter the Gridium phone number 408-475-7913 when prompted.

Step 5 (Final Step): Enter the verification code to finish the MFA setup

Then your Gridium account representative will provide you with the code Gridium receives. Enter that code and the process is complete.
